CJ Logistics announced on the 10th that it has designated the 14th and 15th as 'Courier Rest Day,' during which approximately 20,000 delivery drivers nationwide will take a collective break.

Accordingly, CJ Logistics will suspend the collection of short-term storage items such as fresh, refrigerated, and frozen foods starting the 13th, with deliveries expected to normalize sequentially from the 16th. The company pre-notified its clients, nationwide distribution centers, and delivery drivers of this schedule in preparation for potential delivery delays.

Introduced in 2020 through an agreement between the government and the logistics industry, 'Courier Rest Day' is a joint holiday system in which the entire industry takes time off together, rather than individual companies or individuals. CJ Logistics has participated for seven consecutive years, from the first year of implementation through this year. This system was designed to allow delivery drivers to rest sufficiently without the burden of delivery gaps. In particular, it is emphasized that the system has established itself as a mechanism for the entire industry to take a simultaneous break during the peak heat of mid-August. In addition to 'Courier Rest Day,' the company also operates three days off each during the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays.

According to a survey conducted by CJ Logistics on the 6th and 7th, 92.3% of its 4,763 delivery drivers expressed positive sentiment toward operating an industry-wide joint holiday. The majority of opinions supported 'maintaining the current level' and 'adding holidays during the Lunar New Year and Chuseok,' while only 7.7% selected 'reducing or abolishing holidays' or 'industry autonomy.'

Many delivery drivers responded that they would spend 'Courier Rest Day' with their families or use it as time to recharge. When asked about their plans for this year, 'spending time with family and acquaintances' accounted for 56.7% and 'personal rest and recharging' for 38.5%, combining to a total of 95.2%. As for the meaning of 'Courier Rest Day,' 'time spent with family' (45.5%) and 'rest and recovery from fatigue during the heatwave' (37.2%) were the top responses.

Meanwhile, CJ Logistics became the first in the industry to introduce a health checkup system for delivery drivers in 2013 and has operated it for 14 consecutive years through this year. This year, the company further strengthened its health care support by introducing AI analysis for electrocardiograms. Among welfare and support programs, the health checkup support system recorded the highest satisfaction rate at 53.6%. Regarding the work environment, satisfaction was notably high for the reduction of workload due to the expansion of automated systems (41%) and long-term working conditions (35.9%).
