ARUP, a global engineering company based in London, UK, has carried out various high-rise and large-scale mixed-use development projects in around 100 countries worldwide. The company has a track record of handling the structural design and engineering for world-class skyscrapers, including Malaysia's Merdeka 118 (679m), China's Shanghai Tower (632m), and Singapore's Marina Bay Sands. In particular, it boasts advanced engineering capabilities in structural system optimization, wind load analysis, and performance-based seismic design, all of which are essential for high-rise buildings.

Daewoo Construction plans to enter into a strategic partnership with ARUP to introduce world-class structural design and safety measures for the Mok-dong Zone 8 reconstruction project. Leveraging ARUP's technological expertise, Daewoo Construction will conduct an in-depth review of structural systems suitable for the Mok-dong Zone 8 buildings, which will reach up to 180 meters in height. Based on this, the company intends to establish thorough safety measures to respond to various external environments such as earthquakes and strong winds, with the goal of creating a safe residential environment that residents can actually feel. In addition, it plans to pursue the creation of a skyline that enhances the symbolic presence of the complex.

The Mok-dong Zone 8 is currently undergoing reconstruction with a scale of four basement levels up to 49 above-ground floors, totaling 1,847 units. A notable feature is that the reconstruction is being pursued without including commercial spaces, which has significantly accelerated the project's progress. For the bidding war to select the contractor for this complex, major construction firms including Daewoo Construction, POSCO E&C, and Lotte Construction are competing.

By participating in the Mok-dong Zone 8 reconstruction bid, Daewoo Construction's strategy is to further strengthen its technological competitiveness, aiming to go beyond a simple reconstruction and create a futuristic residential complex representing Mok-dong. A Daewoo Construction official stated, "Through our collaboration with ARUP, we will propose a differentiated landmark complex that prioritizes safety and harmonizes with the urban landscape."
