KB Financial Group has published the "2026 KB Commercial District Vitalization Insight," which analyzes the unique consumption structures and competitiveness of 10 major regional commercial districts across the country. This report was prepared to help local governments establish tailored support policies and assist small business owners in making successful management decisions.

Utilization of 'KB Kookmin Commercial District Vitalization Index' Based on Financial and Consumption Data This report was compiled by applying the "KB Kookmin Commercial District Vitalization Index," jointly developed by KB Kookmin Bank, KB Kookmin Card, and Korea Data Bank. Approximately 25 types of data, including financial assets, sales, and rent, were comprehensively utilized in the analysis to evaluate five key indicators of each commercial district: sustainability, profitability, stability, customer-attracting capacity, and growth potential.

The 10 major commercial districts analyzed nationwide are Busan Seomyeon, Ulsan Samsan, Daegu Dongseong-ro, Gwangju Sangmu District, Jeonju Gaekridan-gil, Yeosu Marine Park, Daejeon Dunsan, Cheonan Buldang, Gangneung Gyo-dong, and Jeju Yeon-dong. The report categorized these areas into the following types based on their unique characteristics.

• Capital Transfer-Type Commercial Districts (Jeonju Gaekridan-gil, Yeosu Marine Park, Daejeon Dunsan): These districts show a structure where tourism, cultural, and distribution resources attract outside visitors, and the resulting consumption spreads to surrounding businesses and areas.
• Backing Demand-Type Commercial Districts (Gwangju Sangmu District, Cheonan Buldang): These districts generate stable demand based on public institutions, corporations, industrial complexes, and residential facilities.
• Domestic and External Demand Hybrid-Type Commercial Districts (Jeju Yeon-dong, Gangneung Gyo-dong): These districts demonstrate potential combining the daily consumption of local residents with the spending of external tourists.

Goal of Strengthening Self-Sustainability and Balanced Development of Regional Economies KB Financial plans to actively utilize the "KB Kookmin Commercial District Vitalization Index" as a forecasting system for regional commercial districts in the future, providing practical support in various fields such as policy formulation, small business management decisions, and financial and private investment.
