Girl group LIGHTSUM (Sangah, Chowon, Nayoung, Hina, Juhyeon, Yujeong) is embarking on a new challenge as a Japan-localized idol group.
In the first episode of the original documentary program 'Re:Idol,' released on June 9 via the Japanese OTT platform ABEMA, LIGHTSUM's Japan debut project kicked off in earnest. During the broadcast, the group was presented with a 'Kawaii' concept to ensure a successful entry into the Japanese music market.
Faced with a concept entirely different from their existing image, the members fell into deep contemplation and sought advice from their agency senior and former 4Minute member Kwon So-hyun. Recalling her own experiences entering the Japanese market, Kwon So-hyun sincerely encouraged the members, saying, "It is better to regret something you did than something you didn't do."
Gaining courage from their senior's heartfelt advice, LIGHTSUM ultimately decided to take on the Japanese idol style after much deliberation. The members resolved to discover their own unique 'Kawaii' charm.
In the subsequent preview video, a look at their J-POP challenge centered around Japanese member Hina and a sneak peek at the scene for their Japanese debut track were revealed, heightening anticipation among global fans.
The documentary 'Re:Idol,' which vividly captures LIGHTSUM's journey toward their Japan debut, is available every Sunday at 10 PM on ABEMA.
