At the 2026 World Table Tennis (WTT) Champions Yokohama, Oh Jun-seong (World No. 31, Korea Exchange) reached his first-ever men's singles final but ultimately finished as the runner-up.

In the final, Oh fell to Japan's Harimoto Tomokazu (World No. 5), who was backed by passionate home crowd support, with a 1-4 defeat (11-7, 7-11, 4-11, 8-11, 7-11). With this victory, Harimoto Tomokazu secured his second consecutive title at the tournament.

Oh delivered an impressive performance throughout the competition. In the round of 16, he defeated his teammate Lim Jong-hoon (World No. 32, Korea Exchange) 3-0, and in the quarterfinals, he overcame World No. 11 Dang Qiu (Germany) in a tightly contested 4-3 battle. He then swept Japan's Shinozuka Hiroto (World No. 24) 4-1 in the semifinals to punch his ticket to the final.

Featuring only men's and women's singles events, the WTT Champions boasts the third-highest prestige within the WTT series, following the Grand Smashes and the Finals.

Other South Korean male players also put up strong fights. Jang Woo-jin (World No. 5, SEA) suffered a narrow 3-4 loss to Japan's Matsushima Sora (World No. 3) in the quarterfinals and was eliminated. In the women's singles, Shin Yu-bin (World No. 10, Korean Air) advanced to the quarterfinals but fell 1-4 to Harimoto Miwa (World No. 3), stopping just short of the semifinals.

Meanwhile, with Harimoto Miwa claiming the championship in the women's final at this tournament, a rare feat was achieved as the Harimoto siblings lifted the men's and women's singles trophies side by side.
