Three members of the Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon), who unlawfully entered Osan Air Base in Pyeongtaek, have been handed over to prosecutors while under arrest on charges of violating the Military Base and Military Facility Protection Act.

On the morning of the 4th, at around 10:15 a.m., an incident occurred in which eight Hanchongryon members passed through the main gate of Osan Air Base (K-55) in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, and entered the facility. At the time, they carried hand signs reading "Let's smash the U.S. 7th Air Force for picking a fight over the Honam semiconductor industry" and chanted slogans while filming the scene. This process was captured in full in footage released online, which also showed them being apprehended on-site by U.S. military personnel.

U.S. military authorities arrested all eight individuals — four men and four women — as flagrante delicto offenders and immediately transferred them to South Korean police. The Pyeongtaek Police Station applied for arrest warrants for four of them on the 6th, deeming the charges to be serious, and the court issued warrants for three of them. The remaining five, for whom warrants were not issued, are being investigated without detention, and police plan to transfer them to prosecutors sequentially as the investigations conclude. According to police, all of the individuals are currently exercising their right to remain silent during the investigation.

Meanwhile, Hanchongryon strongly protested the arrest of its members and issued a statement on the 7th. The group claimed that "the United States is interfering with the construction of the Honam semiconductor industrial complex." They further stated, "It is unjust that members who visited the USFK base to protest against this were forcibly arrested and some were detained." Hanchongryon emphasized that it will not cease its struggle, criticizing U.S. interference in domestic affairs and violations of sovereignty, and demanding the release of the detained university students.
