Actor Ahn Jin-soo, beloved for his supporting roles in Korean films and TV dramas of the 1970s through 1990s, has passed away at the age of 81.

Born in 1945, the deceased underwent surgery for pancreatic cancer two years ago. After the cancer recurred early this year, he had been receiving treatment, but his health deteriorated and he passed away on the 10th. According to his family, he died while undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer.

Ahn appeared in approximately 300 films and numerous dramas. He consistently made his presence felt in MBC drama 'Eyes of Dawn' (1991–1992), SBS 'The Sandglass' (1995), 'Women's Empire' (2001–2002), and others.

He was also active across a wide range of the film industry. He appeared in numerous works including director Bae Chang-ho's 'Our Joyful Youth' (1987), director Kang Woo-suk's 'Happiness Is Not Measured by Grades' (1989), 'Two Cops' (1993), 'How to Top My Wife' (1994), director Im Kwon-taek's 'The Taebaek Mountains' (1994), and director Moon Jong-geum's 'Ssaulabi' (2001).

He portrayed a diverse range of characters: a detective in director Kang Woo-suk's 'Two Cops' series, an office worker who falls victim to a criminal he encounters at a buffet in 'Public Enemy,' a customer struggling without cash in director Kim Sang-jin's 'Attack the Gas Station,' and even a newspaper company president in director Kim Tae-gyu's 'Emergency Measure 19' (2002).

Director Moon Jong-geum expressed regret over Ahn Jin-soo's passing, lamenting that his acting would no longer be seen in new works, and paid tribute by saying the films and memories he left behind would live and breathe for a long time.

The memorial altar has been set up in Room 3 of the funeral hall at Seoul Central Veterans Hospital, and the funeral procession is scheduled to take place at 6:30 a.m. on the 13th.
