KB Kookmin Bank is launching a large-scale policy financing support of KRW 100 billion to strengthen the emergency medical infrastructure in non-metropolitan areas and medically vulnerable regions. The bank announced on the 11th that it has been selected as the handling bank for the "2026 Emergency Medical Institution Loan Program" organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and will supply a total of KRW 100 billion in policy funds to non-metropolitan emergency medical institutions starting on the 13th.

KB Kookmin Bank previously provided policy financing to medical institutions in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Welfare during the 2015 MERS outbreak and in response to COVID-19 in 2020. This latest support has been designed to alleviate the management burden of local emergency medical institutions and underpin the provision of stable emergency medical services.

The loaned funds can be widely utilized across overall medical institution operations, including emergency room facility improvements, payment of medical staff labor costs, and repayment of existing high-interest loans.

Loan Support Targets and Conditions The support targets include regional emergency medical centers, local emergency medical centers, and local emergency medical institutions designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in non-metropolitan areas. To minimize the financial burden on medical institutions, the loan conditions have been designed as follows:

  • Loan Limit: Regional Emergency Medical Centers up to KRW 4 billion / Local Emergency Medical Centers up to KRW 2 billion / Local Emergency Medical Institutions up to KRW 1 billion
  • Interest Rate: 2% per annum fixed rate (however, a separate 1% per annum fixed rate applies to institutions located in emergency medical vulnerable areas)
  • Repayment Method: 5-year grace period followed by 10-year installment repayment

KB Kookmin Bank plans to utilize its nationwide branch network to conduct swift screening and fund disbursement.

A bank official stated, "We will continue to provide prompt financial support so that emergency medical institutions can deliver medical services stably without financial difficulties," adding, "Moving forward, we will strive to stabilize the regional healthcare system through various forms of financial support that offer practical assistance to medical frontlines."
