The electorate for the upcoming Korea Football Association (KFA) presidential election will be expanded more than 100-fold, from approximately 200 to around 20,000. An electronic voting system will be introduced starting with this election, which is expected to be completed no later than the end of this year.

• This expansion of the electorate and change in the voting method follow the recommendations made by the K-Football Innovation Committee at its fifth meeting to increase field participation and election fairness. The Innovation Committee proposed structuring the 20,000-member electorate with the following breakdown:
• Professional players (K1–K4, WK, U-League), amateur players (K5–K7 and tournament participants), and registered coaches: approximately 4,000–6,000 each
• Registered referees: approximately 3,000
• Regular member organizations, delegates, and others: approximately 1,000

As the electorate grows significantly, the limitations of the existing offline voting method were raised. Park Ji-sung, co-chair of the K-Football Innovation Committee, stated at a briefing following the sixth meeting held at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art office building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the 11th, that an online or electronic voting system would be introduced, with security systems and the feasibility of secret voting to be thoroughly reviewed through practical working-level meetings.

Chairman Park explained, "Procedures such as amending the articles of association are necessary, but the association and committee members have agreed to hold the election without exceeding this year," conveying KFA's intent to hold the election promptly. He also emphasized that the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will provide active administrative and financial support.

Discussion on Youth Development and Coach Selection Body Reforms In addition to the election system overhaul, the Innovation Committee is discussing various reform proposals for the development of domestic football. Regarding the youth player development system, the committee plans to improve the league and competition structures as well as infrastructure, taking into account stage-by-stage player growth and environmental factors such as climate change.

Regarding the appointment of the national team head coach, the Innovation Committee will not directly intervene in the process of selecting an interim head coach. However, it plans to recommend institutional reforms to enhance the transparency and professionalism of the future coach selection body.

7th Meeting and Public Hearing on the 19th Meanwhile, the Innovation Committee will hold its seventh meeting and a public hearing at 2 p.m. on the 19th at the KFA Stadium main auditorium in Korea Football Park, Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province. At this event, football players and fans will attend in person to share diverse opinions from the field, including youth development and other football community issues.
