The LG Twins escaped a three-game losing streak, laying the groundwork for a turnaround.

On the 11th at Seoul's Gocheok Sky Dome, LG defeated the Kiwoom Heroes 8-3 in Game 12 of the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League. With the win, they narrowed the gap with second-place Samsung to 3.5 games and successfully shifted the momentum in their first game after the 'extreme heat rest period.'

Carrasco Earns First KBO Win with 6-Inning Quality Start

Starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco tossed six innings, allowing five hits, one walk, and five strikeouts with two runs earned, securing his first KBO victory. He had carried a perfect game streak spanning 10 consecutive innings dating back to his previous start until Seo Geun-chang broke it up with a hit in the fifth, but the veteran with 112 career Major League wins navigated through trouble with poise.

Kim Jin-seong, Woo Kang-hoon, and Son Ju-young followed on the mound to preserve the win, with Son adding his 22nd save of the season.

Song Chan-ui's Go-ahead HR, Oh Ji-hwan's Clinching Three-Run Shot

At the plate, Song Chan-ui launched the go-ahead home run, reaching double-digit homers for the first time in his career (his 10th of the season). Oh Ji-hwan delivered a big performance with two hits (one home run), one walk, and three RBIs, capping it off with a three-run homer (his 8th of the season) in the ninth inning to put the game out of reach.

Moon Jung-bin and Hong Chang-ki each contributed one hit and one RBI, while Moon Bo-kyung reached base three times with one hit, two walks, and one RBI. Lower-order hitter Koo Bon-hyuk reached base three times, adding vitality to the offense.

Early Lead → Kiwoom Ties It → LG Reclaims the Lead

LG struck first in the top of the first. After one out, Park Hae-min was hit by a pitch and stole second, and a walk to Austin created a first-and-second opportunity with one out. A wild pitch during Moon Bo-kyung's at-bat advanced the runners to second and third, and Moon's groundout to shortstop brought Park home for the opening run. With two outs and a runner on third, Moon Jung-bin's single to left made it 2-0.

In the second, Oh Ji-hwan's walk and Koo Bon-hyuk's single put runners on first and second, but they failed to add another run. In the third, consecutive walks to Moon Bo-kyung and Moon Jung-bin put runners on base, but Song Chan-ui and Oh Ji-hwan struck out back-to-back to end the threat.

Kiwoom mounted a counterattack in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs, Kim Geon-hui singled to center and advanced to second on a wild pitch during Im Byung-wook's at-bat. Im then singled to left to cut the deficit to 2-1. Park Chan-hyuk followed with a single to right, and Kwon Hyuk-bin's RBI single to left tied the game at 2-2.

LG reclaimed the lead in the top of the sixth when Song Chan-ui launched a solo home run over the left-field wall off Kiwoom's Jung Hyun-woo. After two outs, Park Dong-won's single to left-center and Koo Bon-hyuk's walk created another first-and-second opportunity. Hong Chang-ki's grounder deflected off the first baseman's glove and rolled into the outfield, allowing the runner from second to score and making it 4-2.

In the bottom of the seventh, Kiwoom's Park Chan-hyuk pulled his team within one with a solo shot to left off Kim Jin-seong (his 7th of the season), making it 4-3. However, LG extended the lead to 5-3 in the top of the eighth when Oh Ji-hwan doubled, Park Dong-won laid down a sacrifice bunt, and a wild pitch during Koo Bon-hyuk's at-bat allowed the runner from third to score.

In the top of the ninth with two outs and runners on first and second, Oh Ji-hwan launched a three-run home run over the right-field wall to decide the game. In the bottom of the ninth, Son Ju-young shut down the Kiwoom lineup without allowing a run to close out the game.

Roster Moves and Pitching Notes

LG registered pitcher Lee Jung-yong and outfielder Choi Won-young to the first-team roster, while designating Seong Dong-hyeon and Moon Seong-ju for assignment. Moon Seong-ju suffered a micro-tear in his oblique muscle and will require three to four weeks of rehabilitation.

For Kiwoom, Seo Geun-chang, Choo Jae-hyun, Davidson, Hiura, Kim Ung-bin, Kim Geon-hui, Im Byung-wook, Park Chan-hyuk, and Kwon Hyuk-bin were in the starting lineup. Starter Ahn Woo-jin went five innings, allowing two hits, four walks, one hit-by-pitch, three strikeouts, and two earned runs, leaving with a no-decision before the bullpen collapsed and handed over the game.
