The South Korea U-17 women's national volleyball team secured an early spot in the Round of 16 after achieving four consecutive wins in the group stage at the 2026 FIVB U-17 Women's World Championship.

On the 11th (Korean time), in their fourth Group D match held in Los Andes, Chile, South Korea defeated the Dominican Republic with a set score of 3-1 (25-18, 21-25, 25-19, 25-17). With this victory, South Korea solidified its hold on first place in Group D (12 points), having successively defeated Puerto Rico, Chinese Taipei, Italy, and now the Dominican Republic.

A total of 24 nations are competing in this tournament, divided into four groups of six teams each in the group stage, with the top four teams from each group advancing to the Round of 16 knockout stage. South Korea secured at least fourth place in its group, clinching a ticket to the Round of 16 regardless of the outcome of its final group match against Algeria scheduled for the 12th. If South Korea advances to the Round of 16 as the group winner, it will face the fourth-place team from Group B, while a second-place finish would set up a match against the third-place team from Group B.

In the match, South Korea traded the first two sets in a tightly contested affair, but took control with four consecutive points from a 13-13 tie in the third set before taking a 2-1 set lead at 24-19 thanks to a service error by the opponent. In the fourth set, South Korea never relinquished the lead, pulling ahead to 23-14 with four straight points from a 19-14 advantage. At 24-17 match point, the team sealed the game off another opponent service error.

Captain Son Seo-yeon (Sunmyung Girls' High School) led the team in scoring with a total of 23 points, including 20 attack points, 1 block, and 2 service aces. Son is also the tournament's overall top scorer with a cumulative 91 points. Jang Su-in (Gyeongnam Girls' High School) and Eo Min-seo (Hanbom High School) added 14 and 12 points, respectively. Lee Da-yeon (Jungang Girls' High School) contributed a total of 10 points, including 8 from blocks and serves alone, while Choi Min-ju (Gyeonghae Girls' Middle School) chipped in with 8 points.

In overall team statistics, South Korea also outperformed the Dominican Republic in major categories, including attack points (51-48), blocking (11-6), serves (7-6), and opponent errors (19-27).

South Korea will play its final group stage match against Algeria at 3:00 a.m. on the 12th.
