The wedding took place just four days before the new season of the Saudi Arabian professional football league, where Ronaldo is currently active. Having played for prestigious European clubs such as Real Madrid (Spain), Manchester United (England), and Juventus (Italy), Ronaldo currently plays for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia. Recently, he reached his sixth career World Cup, tying the record for the most appearances in men's World Cup history alongside Lionel Messi (Argentina). The couple's relationship began in 2016 at a luxury brand store in Madrid, Spain. Ronaldo first met Rodriguez, who was working as a sales clerk at the time, and they officially went public with their relationship the following year in 2017. When Rodriguez appeared on the Netflix reality series 'I Am Georgina,' Ronaldo described her as 'a woman who is much more mature than her age and very interesting,' and admitted that he never expected their relationship to last this long.
