TV CHOSUN's variety show 'What Did the King Eat?' traces the final days of King Danjong. In this broadcast, the show visits Cheongnyeongpo in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province, where King Danjong was exiled, and reveals the 'meal table of exile' prepared there.

In particular, mountaineer Um Hong-gil accompanies the team on this journey. As a descendant of Um Heung-do, who recovered King Danjong's body, he recounts how his ancestor, together with his two sons, gathered the king's remains and built Jangneung Tomb at the spot where a great deer once lay. Um Hong-gil stated, "Thanks to my ancestor, many people have come to take interest and think about Yeongwol."

Having visited Cheongnyeongpo in person, Um Hong-gil vividly described the prison-like environment of the time, saying, "My heart aches. It may be said to be surrounded by nature, but it is a prison. It is layer upon layer upon layer of mountains." Cast member Ji Ye-eun could not hide her sorrow for King Danjong's plight, remarking, "If you were isolated all alone like that, wouldn't you want to die? How could anyone survive?"

The broadcast also showcases the exile meal table that the people of Yeongwol carefully prepared for King Danjong. Regarding this meal made with local Yeongwol ingredients, Lee Yeon-ju explained, "It is a wild vegetable that tastes better than meat if seasoned well." Viewers are curious whether Shin Gi-ru will acknowledge its taste. According to historical accounts, King Danjong shed tears in front of this meal table.

Meanwhile, King Danjong passed away at the young age of 16. Grand Prince Suyang issued a royal decree stating, "Anyone who recovers King Danjong's body will have their entire extended family executed," preventing anyone from approaching the remains.
