The film 'Miss Wonderful 2' has once again proven the possibility that a female-led action series can be loved over the long term. Lead actress Uhm Jung-hwa felt firsthand that her long-held wish had become a reality through this work. Since the filming of Season 1, both the cast and crew had resolved to 'create a series that continues through Season 3,' making their affection for this project especially profound.

In a recent interview with Sports Seoul, Uhm Jung-hwa shared her thoughts on the release, saying, 'I'm truly proud that a project I started with the belief that there is no reason only men should do action series has made it all the way to Season 2.' Reflecting on the journey leading up to the release of 'Miss Wonderful 2,' she added that the title itself is well-suited for continued production.

A sequel to the 2020 first installment, 'Miss Wonderful 2' depicts a comic action story in which Mi-young (played by Uhm Jung-hwa), a former legendary agent, and her family get caught up in a cruise ship hijacking in the middle of the open sea during a luxury cruise trip.

While the confined space of an airplane was a source of fear in Season 1, the expansive cruise ship setting this time allowed Uhm Jung-hwa to approach her action performances more freely. She recalled that during the filming of Season 1, the action training period was short at around two months, and the tight spaces made her worry about injuries. In contrast, she explained that consistent exercise and thorough preparation allowed her to film much more comfortably this time, and the wide-open setting of the cruise ship enabled her to fully showcase her action skills.

She noted that the beach action scene against the villain Anya (played by Choi Soo-young) in the latter half of the film was particularly impressive. Although the scene was shot in severe weather with hail and strong winds, she said that after checking the footage on the monitor, she felt determined to see it through. Choi Soo-young also struggled with the cold, but ultimately the two created a memorable scene.

Uhm Jung-hwa also expressed satisfaction with her work alongside Choi Soo-young. Although it was the director's opinion as well, Uhm revealed that she had recommended Choi Soo-young first and personally sent her a direct message expressing her desire to work together. Their connection was special, as Choi Soo-young had also attended the Season 1 premiere.

Having consistently portrayed the stories of women across various age groups as a lead actress, Uhm Jung-hwa described her filmography as a stroke of luck. She said that since it is not an opportunity anyone can have, her sense of responsibility has grown, adding that she hopes stories of women living their lives from their 30s to their 70s will continue to be told in film. Her dream is to keep making such works for a long time.

She also revealed her hope to become a source of small inspiration for junior actors. Recalling her own experience of feeling lost transitioning from her 20s to her 40s, she said she would be happy in itself if junior actors could gain courage from watching her activities.

Plans for Season 3 have already begun, provided that 'Miss Wonderful 2' receives love from many audiences. Uhm Jung-hwa once again expressed her desire to collaborate with action star Tom Cruise, something she has consistently mentioned since the production briefing. She recently smiled as she mentioned that a new idea for Season 3 had come to mind and she had jotted it down. Uhm Jung-hwa shared her hopes, saying, 'I want Season 3 to expand into a completely new and bigger story,' and emphasized, 'I want Tom Cruise. I am dedicated to digging one well.'
