According to the Yemeni government's Ministry of Transport, the target was the 'Tihama,' a small cargo vessel owned by an Egyptian company that was transiting through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Houthi rebels reportedly fired three ballistic missiles at the ship.
The SABA news agency, operated by the Houthis, claimed that the vessel was carrying military supplies and released related photos. However, Saudi Arabia has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, the Houthi rebels had previously warned last month that they would impose a naval blockade in the Red Sea targeting Saudi ships in response to Saudi Arabia's blockade measures against Yemen.
