In the August Netizens Awards sports category voting, basketball star Heo Woong and football star Lee Kang-in are locked in a razor-thin fan battle for first place.

As of the tally at 6:33 p.m. on the 14th, Heo Woong leads the sports category with 4,428 votes (40.4%). Lee Kang-in sits in second place with 4,246 votes (38.7%). The gap between the two candidates is a mere 182 votes.

While Heo Woong holds a slight lead so far, Lee Kang-in is also posting a vote share close to 40%, meaning the rankings could flip at any moment. Notably, with the two candidates splitting the bulk of the total votes, the race for the sports category lead has effectively become a two-horse contest.

The competition for 7th and 8th place is also fierce. An Se-young is in 7th with 188 votes (1.7%) and Yun Ina in 8th with 183 votes (1.7%), separated by just 5 votes. Kim Do-young sits in 9th with 145 votes (1.3%), and Yoon Dong-hee is in 10th with 68 votes (0.6%).
