South Korean nuclear power-related stocks closed with mixed movements in the regular session on the 21st. While a significant number of major stocks, including flagship nuclear power stock Doosan Enerbility, declined, Daechang Solution posted a double-digit gain, showing a stark contrast among individual stocks.
■ Doosan Enerbility Falls 3.29%... Most Nuclear Power Stocks Weak
Doosan Enerbility closed at 73,400 won, down 3.29% from the previous trading day. The weakness of Doosan Enerbility, considered one of Korea's leading nuclear power stocks, drew attention to the movements of related shares.
Among decliners, Korea Plant Service & Engineering (Hanjeon Gisul) fell 3.07% to 91,300 won, and Woori Technology closed down 2.46% at 11,890 won. Korea Electric Power Industrial Development (Hanjeon KPS) also dropped 2.78% to 43,700 won, and Soosan Industries fell 1.65% to 20,800 won.
Some stocks posted relatively steep declines. Woojin closed down 8.24% at 11,910 won, Orbitech fell 6.56% to 4,270 won, and Woojin Entech dropped 6.13% to 12,700 won. Mobis also closed at 2,740 won, down 3.35%.
■ Daechang Solution Surges 19.11%... Geumhwa P&S and KEPCO Also Rise
In contrast, Daechang Solution closed at 2,150 won, up a sharp 19.11%, showing the most notable movement among nuclear power stocks. Geumhwa P&S finished up 2.91% at 33,550 won, and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) closed up 0.15% at 31,850 won.
■ Daechang Solution and Doosan Enerbility Announce Successive Order Wins
News of new orders from nuclear power-related companies also continued. Daechang Solution announced on the 21st that it signed a contract with Arabelle Solutions France to supply specialty steel materials for SMRs (small modular reactors) and large nuclear power turbines. The contract value is approximately 82.63 billion won (82,631,040,000 won), equivalent to 138% of its 2025 consolidated revenue. The contract period runs from that day until March 31, 2032.
Doosan Enerbility also announced that it signed a contract for the construction of the 'Misfah Independent Power Project' in the Misfah area of Oman. The contract value is approximately 928.1 billion won, equivalent to 5.4% of its 2025 consolidated revenue. The counterparty is Jabel Power SAOC, and the contract period runs from August 20, 2026 to April 1, 2029.
With order announcements even from some stocks, attention is focused on how the news will affect investor sentiment in the new trading week following the weekend.
