Bitcoin continued trading around the $76,000 level over the weekend. After a steep rally, the cryptocurrency is catching its breath, and market attention is focused on whether it can surpass the $80,000 mark in the new week.

As of 6:30 p.m. on the 23rd, CoinMarketCap data showed bitcoin trading at $76,496.38. This is up 0.42% from an hour earlier, but down 0.91% on a 24-hour basis.

■ Recent Trends and Market Outlook

Bitcoin has recently gained strong upward momentum, sharply lifting its price over a short period. In particular, on the 21st, it quickly climbed to the $75,000–$76,000 range, drawing market attention.

Accordingly, market eyes are on whether bitcoin can secure additional upward momentum in the new week. At current prices, about 4.6% remains to reach $80,000, meaning the $80,000 level could come within reach if volatility expands.

Conversely, if profit-taking volumes emerge following the short-term rise, it is hard to rule out the possibility of a continued battle around the $76,000 level.

■ Altcoins Also Weak

Altcoins were also mostly weaker on the day. At the same time, Ethereum fell 0.67% from 24 hours earlier to $2,408.75. XRP dropped 2.48% to $1.47, while BNB recorded $688.52 and Solana $93.20.

Ultimately, the key focal point in the new week's virtual asset market will be whether bitcoin can use the $76,000 level as a springboard to strengthen its rally and surpass the $80,000 milestone. Given the recent widening of price fluctuations, attention is also focused on the tug-of-war between buying and selling forces that may unfold during an attempt to break through $80,000.
