Ripple (XRP) price has surged roughly 50% over the past week. According to overseas cryptocurrency media outlet CoinGape, at the time of writing, XRP had risen about 50% in a week, reaching around $1.45. Behind the surge lies growing expectations for institutional investment demand as capital flows into XRP spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
■ Total Cryptocurrency Market Cap at $2.62 Trillion…Expanding Investor Participation
According to CoinGape, the overall cryptocurrency market rose 1.61% over the last 24 hours, with total market capitalization increasing to about $2.62 trillion. Bitcoin maintained its price above $77,000, while Ethereum recorded $2,400. CoinGape reported that as market sentiment improved, cryptocurrency investment returns also increased. With the Fear & Greed Index remaining in the greed zone, market participation by both institutional and retail investors has grown.
■ XRP Spot ETF Sees Largest Weekly Net Inflow Since May
CoinGape reported that XRP spot ETFs recorded their largest weekly inflow since May, fueling expectations for institutional investment demand. XRP spot ETFs saw inflows for four consecutive trading days, with weekly net inflows totaling $39.8 million. This is the largest weekly net inflow since mid-May, when similar products attracted approximately $60.5 million.
According to data cited by CoinGape, U.S. XRP spot ETFs recorded a daily net inflow of $18.38 million on August 21 (local time), with trading volume of listed products tallied at $94.03 million. CoinGape interpreted this as a sign that investor interest continues.
The total net assets of XRP spot ETFs grew to $1.33 billion, with cumulative net inflows since launch increasing to $1.55 billion. According to CoinGape, this accounts for about 1.54% of XRP's total market capitalization, showing that ETF products' market share is growing.
■ Pushed Back from $1.60 on Profit-Taking…$1.40 Is the Key Support Level
However, CoinGape noted that for XRP to sustain its recent upward trend, it must hold its current major support level. While ETF demand and a relatively calm market environment could support further gains, there is also a short-term risk of profit-taking, it said.
After the sharp rise, investors took profits and XRP was pushed back from $1.60. On the 4-hour chart, it is holding the key support level of $1.40. CoinGape explained that this price zone is the critical level that will determine whether the larger uptrend can be maintained.
■ RSI at 58.80 and MACD Bearish Signal…Watch for Short-Term Correction
The Relative Strength Index (RSI) has fallen to 58.80 from the overbought zone. CoinGape analyzed that this movement shows the upward momentum has somewhat weakened, but XRP's trend still leans toward a gradual rise. Meanwhile, the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) showed a bearish signal as the MACD line crossed below the signal line. According to CoinGape, the histogram also recorded minus 0.0170, indicating growing short-term downward pressure.
■ If $1.50 Is Recovered, Target $1.60–$1.80…If Support Fails, $1.30
Regarding future price movements, CoinGape projected that if XRP recovers above $1.50, it could again target the recent resistance level of $1.60. If upward momentum continues beyond $1.60, the path could open to $1.70 and $1.80. Conversely, it analyzed that if XRP fails to hold $1.40, the price could be pushed further down to $1.30. It added that if selling pressure persists, the next major support level could be $1.20.
