Basketball star Heo Woong has defended his No. 1 position in the Sports Award voting for the sports category of the August Netizen Awards. Maintaining his reign for 32 consecutive months as of this month, he has displayed an unrivaled presence.

In the race held throughout August, Heo Woong garnered a total of 10,203 votes, recording a 41.6% share. Following 41.4% in July, he maintained support in the 40% range once again, solidifying his lead in the sports category.

At the top of the rankings, a tight two-way race unfolded with football star Lee Kang-in closely chasing the leader. Backed by solid support from football fans, Lee Kang-in recorded 9,444 votes with a 38.5% share, firmly holding second place for the second consecutive month after July. Since recently joining Atletico Madrid, Lee Kang-in has showcased his sharpened game sense, recording one goal and one assist in three matches since his transfer.

Following Lee Kang-in, 'Figure Queen' Kim Yuna secured 1,556 votes (6.3%), settling in third place and stably maintaining the top three lineup.

In the mid-ranking battle, flagship stars from various sports continued their pride-driven contest for votes. Football national team captain Son Heung-min recorded 805 votes (3.3%), matching his fourth-place finish from July, while 'Volleyball Empress' Kim Yeon-koung rose to fifth place with 726 votes (3.0%). Major Leaguer Lee Jung-hoo defended sixth place with 550 votes (2.2%).

In the lower rankings, close contests continued, with fortunes divided by just a few votes. 'Badminton Empress' An Se-young took seventh place with 408 votes (1.7%), and golf star Yoon Ina secured eighth place with 400 votes (1.6%), just eight votes behind. KBO star Kim Do-young ranked ninth with 330 votes (1.3%), and baseball star Yun Dong-hee, who newly entered the rankings this month, secured 89 votes (0.4%) to finish the August Sports Award race in tenth place.
