Wonik (032940) surged during the morning session on the 3rd, triggering the volatility control measure (VI).
According to the Korea Exchange, as of 11:44 a.m. that day, Wonik's stock price was trading at 8,480 won, up 1,260 won (17.45%) from the previous trading day.
The stock had earlier fallen to as low as 6,900 won during the session, but rebounded as buying quickly flowed in, widening its gains to double digits.
Accordingly, a static VI was triggered on the KRX regular market at 10:49:10 a.m. and lifted at 10:51:17 a.m. The VI is a system designed to ease price fluctuations when an individual stock's price moves sharply beyond a certain range.
However, as the morning session is still underway and stock price volatility has increased due to the steep rebound from the day's low, whether the current strength will continue needs to be watched a bit longer.
