According to her agency Modhaus, 'Afterglow' is a song about a heart that, like starlight traveling hundreds of millions of light-years only to vanish without ever arriving, ultimately fails to reach its destination and scatters. Haseul adds poignant, wistful vocals and even performs rap herself, which she has rarely showcased before, bringing the song to life. Musically, the track builds on the city pop genre she has previously presented, incorporating jazz and rock styles to deliver a more evolved, sophisticated appeal. Meanwhile, ARTMS, the group Haseul belongs to, recently released its new mini album 'Hyper-Ego.'
