KBS Broadcast Ranks First in Nationwide and Capital Area Ratings

The broadcast, led by announcer Lee Young-ho, commentators Kim Jong-kyu and Son Dae-beom, and reporter Won Seok-yeon, recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 0.8% according to Nielsen Korea, outperforming MBC (0.5%) and SBS (0.3%), which aired in the same time slot. Lee Hyun-jung Records a Double-Double, Yoo Ki-sang Hits Seven Three-Pointers

With Yeo Jun-seok absent due to injury, Lee Hyun-jung led the team with 24 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Yoo Ki-sang added 21 points, including seven three-pointers, with a particularly standout performance in the fourth quarter.

Against Indonesia's early pressure, South Korea maintained a close 39-30 margin through the second quarter. Lee Hyun-jung then widened the gap in the third quarter with consecutive three-pointers and rebounds, while Yoo Ki-sang's three-point shooting shone in the fourth quarter.

Kim Jong-kyu's Commentary Debut: 'We Shook Off the Fourth-Quarter Nightmare'

Kim Jong-kyu, who made his debut as a commentator at this tournament, drew positive reactions from viewers with his clear reading of the game's flow as a former active player. During the game, he commented, 'This must be what they mean by "beating the drum and gong." From Indonesia's perspective, Lee Hyun-jung must be frightening even just holding the ball.' Regarding Yoo Ki-sang, he expressed his expectations, saying, 'I'd like to see them just let him shoot and see how far he can go.' He also mentioned Yoo Ki-sang's nickname, the 'Snow Flower Shooter,' adding liveliness to the broadcast by saying, 'Snow flowers are falling on Nagoya. It's winter here.'

After the game, Kim Jong-kyu praised the national team, saying, 'The team's mood reportedly wasn't great after the big win over Saudi Arabia, and the reason was the "fourth-quarter nightmare."' He added, 'I was proud of how they fought tenaciously to the end today to shake off that nightmare.'

Commentator Son Dae-beom analyzed, 'Even without Yeo Jun-seok, it was significant that Lee Hyun-jung widened the score in the third quarter and gave the team stability.' He also assessed, 'Yoo Ki-sang showed explosive power in the fourth quarter. We've gained one more weapon to make Japan nervous.'
