The KOSPI broke through the 7,000 mark on the 21st, recording a gain of more than 1%.

In the regular session, the KOSPI closed at 7,007.72, up 113.49 points (1.65%) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 6,938.34 and widened its gains, rising as high as 7,027.58 intraday. Eight of the top 10 stocks by market capitalization rose, bringing warmth to large caps overall. With the KOSPI finishing above the 7,000 mark, attention is focused on whether the index can settle at that level.

Among the top stocks by market capitalization, Samsung Electronics Preferred Shares posted the biggest gain, closing at 208,000 won, up 6.07% from the previous day in the regular session. Samsung Electronics finished trading at 274,000 won, up 4.98%, while Samsung Electro-Mechanics ended at 1,429,000 won, up 2.95%, and Samsung C&T closed at 367,500 won, up 4.70%. SK Square also recorded 1,127,000 won, up 4.45%, joining the upward trend.

In addition, KB Financial Group closed at 177,500 won, up 1.49%, and SK Hynix finished trading at 1,868,000 won, up 0.59%. Samsung Biologics ended slightly higher at 1,402,000 won, up 0.29%.

However, some declining stocks stood out. LG Energy Solution closed at 352,000 won, down 3.30%, and Hyundai Motor fell 1.64% to 359,000 won, moving against the index's upward trend.

In the market, with the KOSPI recovering the 7,000 mark, whether the strength in semiconductors and major large caps will continue into the next trading day is cited as a key point to watch.
