The Seoul regional conference of the Democratic Peaceful Unification Advisory Council (DPUAC) discussed policy directions for peaceful coexistence and mutual growth on the Korean Peninsula and moved to strengthen community-centered unification activities.

The DPUAC Seoul regional conference held its '22nd Seoul Regional Meeting' on the 22nd at the Convention Hall of Gwanggaeto Hall at Sejong University. The event, convened as a statutory meeting under the Democratic Peaceful Unification Advisory Council Act, reviewed the status of 22nd-term activities and shared the progress of policies promoting peaceful coexistence on the Korean Peninsula. It also served as a venue for gathering policy proposals from Seoul-area advisory committee members.

Attendees included Seoul Vice Chairman Je Seong-ho, Secretary-General Bang Yong-seung, and council chairs and advisory members from Seoul's 25 autonomous districts. A video message from the President, who serves as DPUAC chairman, and congratulatory remarks from Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon were also delivered.

Seoul Vice Chairman Je Seong-ho stated, "This was an occasion to confirm the aspirations and commitment of Seoul's advisory members toward peaceful coexistence and mutual growth on the Korean Peninsula," adding, "We will continue to lead unification activities together with the people."

Secretary-General Bang Yong-seung emphasized the role of advisory members in laying the groundwork for peaceful coexistence and mutual growth based on national consensus, and pledged active support for community-centered unification activities.

During the agenda review and reports, Lee Jong-joo, Director-General of Unification Policy at the Ministry of Unification, reported on 'the status of peaceful coexistence policy implementation on the Korean Peninsula,' and Choi Jeong-sik, secretary of the Seoul regional conference, reported on 'the activities of the 22nd Seoul Regional Meeting.'

Policy proposals included topics such as generational unification education, youth participation in the peace economy, and peace public diplomacy. Kim Ji-hyun, an advisory member from Dongdaemun District, proposed 'establishing a life-cycle democratic peaceful unification education system,' while Heo Sang-hyeok, an advisory member from Seocho District, proposed 'a Korean Peninsula peace economy created together with the younger generation.' Lee Jang-han, an advisory member from Gangbuk District, presented 'promoting citizen-participatory peace public diplomacy to spread global consensus on peaceful unification.'

At the close of the meeting, Seoul-area advisory members read aloud a resolution titled 'Toward Peaceful Coexistence and Mutual Growth on the Korean Peninsula.' They resolved to broaden national consensus on peace and unification and to gather public opinion through initiatives such as the 'Peaceful Unification One Million Citizens Interview,' working to build a community-centered unification governance structure.
