Actor Jung Sung-il shared his thoughts on playing Chun Seok-jung as the Disney+ original series 'Made in Korea Season 2' came to a close.

From Season 1 through Season 2, Jung portrayed Chun Seok-jung, Chief of Staff at the Blue House, densely depicting his obsession with power and his survival instincts.

■ Chun Seok-jung Overcomes Crisis Through Betrayal and Framing

In episodes 5 and 6 of Season 2, Chun Seok-jung found himself under pressure from Jang Geon-yeong (Jung Woo-sung) in a joint investigation headquarters interrogation room, and tense relationships unfolded with Baek Ki-tae (Hyun Bin) and Hwang Dae-sik (Heo Jung-do). In particular, when Hwang Dae-sik appeared in the interrogation room with Madam Shin (Jang Hye-jin) and, pointing a gun, proposed betraying Baek Ki-tae, Chun accepted and shifted the criminal charges onto Baek. He then held an emergency press conference, dumping the slush fund ledgers and all allegations onto Baek Ki-tae.

While collecting cash from the presidential office safe, Chun ran into Baek Ki-tae and calmly explained his deal with Hwang Dae-sik, revealing his obsession with power. Sitting in the president's office chair, he declared, "I will sit in this seat before I die," showing his determination to hold onto power to the end; even after a bullet from Baek Ki-tae grazed his ear, he did not stop his pursuit of power.

■ "Deeply Connected with Chun Seok-jung... A Meaningful Time"

With his deep voice, dialect acting, and diverse emotional expressions, Jung Sung-il proved his wide-ranging acting skills, moving between the desperation and dignity of the powerful figure Chun Seok-jung.

Through his agency Billions, he expressed gratitude for the support for the work, saying, "It was a meaningful time to deeply connect with the character Chun Seok-jung from Season 1 through Season 2 of 'Made in Korea.'"

Jung Sung-il has taken on roles crossing between good and evil, including Ha Do-yeong in Netflix's 'The Glory,' Genshin in the film 'Warfare,' Han-do in Disney+'s 'Trigger,' and Young-hoon in 'The Killer Report,' and with the 'Made in Korea' series, he has added another signature character to his repertoire.

Meanwhile, the films 'Sapiens' and 'Japil,' starring Jung Sung-il, were invited to the 'Korean Cinema Today - Special Premiere' and 'Korean Cinema Today - Panorama' sections of the 31st Busan International Film Festival, and he is set to attend the festival with both works.
