■ U.S. Treasury yields surge, sending Wall Street broadly lower... attention on factors affecting gold prices

Meanwhile, market attention is also focused on the U.S. interest rate environment, which could influence gold prices.

On September 23 (local time), Wall Street closed broadly lower as U.S. Treasury yields climbed sharply and the possibility of additional interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve (Fed) came to the forefront. The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished trading at 51,511.59, down 352.10 points (0.68%) from the previous session. The S&P 500 index recorded 7,706.03, down 58.61 points (0.75%), while the Nasdaq Composite posted a relatively larger decline, closing at 26,936.04, down 308.24 points (1.13%).

U.S. Treasury yields rose sharply on the day, increasing pressure across financial markets. Notably, the 10-year Treasury yield climbed to the 5.1% range. As U.S. economic indicators came in stronger than expected, concerns grew that inflationary pressures may not subside easily, once again highlighting the possibility of additional rate hikes by the Fed.

As a result, attention is focused on how the future direction of Fed monetary policy and movements in U.S. Treasury yields will act as variables affecting international gold prices.
