[Market Close] KOSDAQ Ends Up 0.25%... HLB Hits Limit Up, EcoPro BM Soars 6%

The KOSDAQ closed the regular session slightly higher on the 28th, the first trading day after the Chuseok holiday. This was in contrast to the KOSPI, which fell more than 2%. The KOSDAQ index finished at 846.58, up 2.10 points (+0.25%) from the previous trading day. The KOSDAQ opened at 845.48 and rose as high as 861.15 during the session before giving up much of its gains. The intraday low was 841.23.

■ HLB Hits Limit Up... EcoPro, EcoPro BM, and Alteogen Rise Together

Among the top stocks by market capitalization, HLB's rally was the most notable. HLB closed at 39,700 won, up 9,150 won (+29.95%) from the previous trading day, hitting the upper price limit. As it rose by the full daily price limit on the first trading day after the holiday, attention is focused on whether it can maintain its strength on the 29th. Secondary battery-related stocks EcoPro and EcoPro BM also closed higher in tandem. EcoPro finished at 81,900 won, up 1,800 won (+2.25%) from the previous session, while EcoPro BM recorded 111,300 won, up 6,300 won (+6.00%), showing a relatively higher gain. Alteogen also ended the session at 252,500 won, up 2,500 won (+1.00%) from the previous trading day.

■ Wonik IPS -7.85%... Semiconductor Stocks Underperform

Some of the top stocks by market capitalization could not avoid weakness. Wonik IPS closed at 123,200 won, down 10,500 won (-7.85%) from the previous trading day, posting a relatively large decline. Rino Industrial also fell 4.17% to 71,200 won. Iotech closed down 2.70% at 468,500 won, and Simmtech finished down 1.54% at 147,200 won. Jusung Engineering recorded 209,000 won, down 500 won (-0.24%) from the previous trading day, while Rainbow Robotics fell 2.66% to 421,500 won. Among the top 10 KOSDAQ stocks by market capitalization, four rose and six fell, showing mixed results. While HLB and EcoPro BM showed strength, some semiconductor-related stocks such as Wonik IPS and Rino Industrial posted relatively large declines. Even within the same KOSDAQ market, stock price movements clearly diverged by industry and individual stock.

■ KOSPI Falls Below 6,900... Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix Drop More Than 5%

Meanwhile, the KOSPI ended the day at 6,889.75, down 191.17 points (-2.70%) from the previous trading day. With Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix each falling more than 5%, the KOSPI dropped below the 6,900 level.
