LS Cable, a subsidiary of LS, is officially entering the rare earth permanent magnet business. LS Cable announced that it has decided to invest 150 billion won in its subsidiary Korea Motion Works. According to the regulatory filing, LS Cable will acquire 150 million shares of Korea Motion Works for 150 billion won in cash. The acquisition amount equals 6.96% of LS Cable's total equity of 2,156.689 billion won as of the end of 2025 under consolidated financial statements. After the acquisition, LS Cable will hold 150 million shares of Korea Motion Works, representing a 100% stake. The scheduled acquisition date is December 31, 2026, which coincides with the scheduled completion date for the investment payment. The investment will be paid in installments. Korea Motion Works, newly established in September 2026, is primarily engaged in the manufacturing and sale of rare earth permanent magnets, with capital of 150 billion won. As the company was newly established, the issuer's summary financial status was not included in the filing. LS explained that this announcement is the confirmed disclosure of the 'clarification regarding rumors or reports (unconfirmed)' initially disclosed on April 7 concerning the construction of a rare earth permanent magnet plant in South Korea. Korea Motion Works plans to build a permanent magnet production plant using the investment funds. However, the number of shares to be acquired, the acquisition amount, the equity ratio, the scheduled acquisition date, and other conditions may change depending on progress. This matter constitutes a major business item for LS Cable, which accounts for 23.91% of LS's total assets as of the end of 2025.
