The cryptocurrency market is showing mixed movements ahead of the release of key US inflation indicators. Bitcoin and Ethereum have risen slightly compared to 24 hours ago, while Ripple, Solana, Dogecoin, and others are showing weakness. With the US Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI) scheduled for release next week, the possibility of additional interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve (Fed) is emerging as a major market variable.

■ Bitcoin at $82,969, Ethereum at $2,499… Weak on a Weekly Basis

As of 8:34 p.m. on the 11th, according to CoinMarketCap, Bitcoin was trading at $82,969.05. It rose 0.27% from 24 hours ago, but remains down 2.74% over the past seven days.

Ethereum rose 0.25% from 24 hours ago to $2,499.42. However, compared to a week ago, it is down 7.51%, showing it has not fully escaped its recent downward trend.

Ripple (XRP) fell 0.98% from 24 hours ago to $1.38. Its decline over the past seven days amounts to 7.30%.

■ Altcoins Mixed… Solana Down 9.93% Weekly

Major altcoins are also showing mixed movements by coin. Binance Coin (BNB) fell 0.12% from 24 hours ago to $747.47, and Solana slipped 0.18% to $109.33. In particular, Solana fell 9.93% over the past week, recording a relatively large drop.

Dogecoin fell 0.79% from 24 hours ago to $0.08511, and is down 9.12% on a seven-day basis. Tron fell 0.17% from 24 hours ago to $0.3303.

On the other hand, Hyperliquid rose 1.47% from 24 hours ago to $85.22, and Zcash rose 0.69% to $1,233.63. However, both coins are also down 5.71% and 7.50%, respectively, over the past seven days.

As such, the daily price movements of major cryptocurrencies remain largely limited, but on a weekly basis, a considerable number of coins are recording declines. Market attention is focused less on short-term price movements and more on upcoming US economic indicators and the direction of monetary policy.

■ US September CPI Expected to Rise 0.6% Month-on-Month… PPI to Be Released on the 15th

According to CoinGape, the cryptocurrency market is paying close attention to the US September CPI, scheduled for release on the 14th (local time). The market expects September CPI to rise 0.6% from the previous month, higher than the 0.4% recorded in August. The year-on-year increase is also projected to expand from 3.4% in August to 3.7% in September.

Core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, is expected to rise 0.2% month-on-month and 2.5% year-on-year. In August, core CPI rose 0.3% and 2.4%, respectively.

Next, the US PPI will be released on the 15th (local time). The market expects September PPI to rise 0.6% from the previous month, higher than the previous month's 0.4% increase.

Since both CPI and PPI are key indicators for gauging US inflation trends, the results could shift investment sentiment across financial markets depending on the outcome.

■ Probability of Fed Holding Rates in October at 82.3%… What About Additional Hikes?

The Fed's future monetary policy direction is also cited as a key variable for the cryptocurrency market. According to the recently released minutes of the September Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting, a majority of participants indicated that an additional increase in the benchmark rate could be appropriate by the end of the year. However, a cautious approach continues regarding the timing of any additional hike.

The market sees a high probability that the Fed will hold the benchmark rate steady at the FOMC meeting on the 27th and 28th. According to CME FedWatch data cited by CoinGape, the probability of a 0.25 percentage point rate hike in October was tallied at 17.7%, while the probability of holding rates steady stood at 82.3%. These figures were confirmed as of the 9th.

The key issue is whether actual inflation indicators exceed market expectations. If inflation pressure proves stronger than expected, concerns could grow that the Fed's tightening stance may be prolonged. Conversely, if price increases slow more than expected, the burden of rate hikes could be partially eased, which could also affect the cryptocurrency market.

In particular, with major cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ripple, and Ethereum having declined over the past week, attention is focused on whether these inflation indicators will become a variable determining the short-term market direction. However, even after the release of the economic indicators, market volatility could expand depending on remarks from Fed officials, US Treasury yields, and dollar movements, so future trends will need to be monitored.
