Hanwha Eagles new general manager Seok Jang-hyun has put forward "role redefinition" as the key keyword for managing the squad. His position is that the roles and assignments of players, both among pitchers and position players, need to be reorganized.

According to Star News on the 14th, General Manager Seok said regarding squad management, "I think we need to redefine roles across the board." These remarks came in a situation where players have been moving between multiple assignments and positions, and they offer a glimpse into the future direction of Hanwha's squad management.

Organizing Starting and Bullpen Assignments a Key Task

On the pitching staff, distinguishing between starting and bullpen roles is cited as a major task. Considering each pitcher's characteristics and how to utilize them, organizing assignments and increasing consistency in mound management could become important issues.

Batting Order and Defensive Positions Also Need to Be Sorted Out

Among the position players, the batting order and defensive positions are areas that need to be organized as well. With players' roles frequently changing, establishing a stable operational system in both offense and defense may become a challenge.

However, role redefinition does not immediately mean changes to specific players' assignments or position moves. Specific player deployment methods are matters to be decided through future discussions with the coaching staff and in the course of team management.

General Manager Seok's remarks are interpreted as reflecting concerns that go beyond simply reinforcing the roster, focusing on how to make use of the existing squad. Attention is focused on how Hanwha will organize the roles of starting and bullpen pitchers, as well as the batting order and defensive positions, under the new general manager's leadership.
