SBS program 'Rewriting the Success Equation - Young KK Is Commuting to Work' will showcase diverse employment success stories built on skills and abilities by five young graduates of vocational high schools. The broadcast challenges the conventional notion that 'academic background equals success,' highlighting the experiences of vocational high school graduates who have entered society based on their abilities.
Moon Se-yoon, Lee Sang-yeob, Lee Mi-joo, and So Seul-gi appear on the show to engage in candid discussions about the existing perception that 'you can only succeed by graduating from a good university.'
Lee Mi-joo pointed out negative prejudices against vocational high schools and distorted images created by the media. She said, "Many people think vocational high school students seem delinquent, as if only troublemakers gather there," adding, "My friends were truly well-mannered, pure friends who worked really hard. School violence only happens in dramas." Regarding the case of a young person who obtained 20 certifications and was hired by Hyundai Motor Company, she said, "I would want to introduce him to anyone around me."
From the perspective of a parent worrying about a child's career path, Moon Se-yoon's empathy stood out. Mentioning the case of a 27-year-old Toss developer who gained recognition for his skills without a university degree, he said, "At this point, I feel like I should send my firstborn to a meister high school and my second to a meister middle school."
Lee Sang-yeob expressed amazement after hearing the story of a 21-year-old who graduated from a meister high school and worked at Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) and SK Hynix. He admitted, "I can't even remember what I was doing at that age."
So Seul-gi, speaking with a young person who expressed his intention to go to university due to his interest in machinery, reflected on her own experience, saying, "It was only after entering university that I thought about what I really like."
The broadcast will also cover a young person who is studying plant medicine at university after gaining field experience, and a Samsung Electronics engineer who won a gold medal at the WorldSkills Competition passing on his skills to juniors. Regarding a young person who runs an apple farm while attending university, Lee Mi-joo said, "Today's videos seem to make me reflect on myself again," and Moon Se-yoon, watching the Samsung Electronics engineer, exclaimed, "He's a legend even at heart."
Part 1 of SBS's 'Rewriting the Success Equation - Young KK Is Commuting to Work' will air on Sunday, October 18, at 10:55 a.m.
