The Seoul Regional Conference of the Democratic Peaceful Unification Advisory Council (Minju Pyeongtong), led by Seoul Vice Chair Je Seong-ho, held its '2026 Fourth Quarter Seoul Regional Steering Committee Meeting' on the 22nd at the Planning and Situation Room of the Seodaemun District Office in Seoul.

Some 25 steering committee members from the Seoul region attended the meeting, reviewing the progress of this year's major projects and discussing the fourth-quarter business plan and the direction of regional conference operations for 2027. The meeting, moderated by Secretary Choi Jeong-sik of the Seoul Regional Conference, proceeded in the order of an opening address by Seoul Vice Chair Je Seong-ho, a welcome speech by Seodaemun Deputy District Mayor Kang Ok-hyun, a business report by Seoul Director Jeong Hyeon-woo of the Secretariat, followed by deliberation of key agenda items.

■ Vice Chair Je Seong-ho: "Please Prepare Next Year's Plan Reflecting Voices from the Field"

Seoul Vice Chair Je Seong-ho said, "I thank the steering committee members who have worked to expand the consensus on peaceful unification and communicate with local communities in each region," and asked them to "share this year's achievements and experiences and prepare an effective business plan for next year that reflects the voices of the field."

Seodaemun Deputy District Mayor Kang Ok-hyun said, "It is meaningful that the Seoul regional steering committee meeting is being held at the Seodaemun District Office," adding, "We will continue to actively cooperate for the smooth operation of the Seoul Regional Conference."

■ Report on Major Secretariat Tasks, Including Hosting the 22nd-Term Regional Conference

Seoul Director Jeong Hyeon-woo then reported on the progress and future plans of the Secretariat's major tasks for 2026. The reported tasks included hosting the 22nd-term regional conference, operating statutory committees and submitting policy recommendations, expanding public opinion gathering on peaceful coexistence, forming national communication and consensus, strengthening advisors' capabilities, and expanding overseas consensus on peaceful coexistence.

The steering committee members shared the performance of the third-quarter projects of the Seoul Regional Conference and regional councils, and discussed the direction and detailed plans for major fourth-quarter projects. They also exchanged views on the 2027 major project plans of the regional conference, issues by region, and improvements to operations.

The Seoul Regional Conference plans to pursue its remaining fourth-quarter projects based on the discussions held that day, and to reflect regional activity results and field opinions in next year's major project plans.
