International gold prices closed lower, drawing market attention to whether the $4,000-per-ounce level can be defended.

As of October 24, Korean time, international gold prices on the New York Mercantile Exchange stood at $4,007.90 per ounce, down $52.50 (-1.29%) from the previous day. During the session, prices fell to as low as $3,989.10, briefly dipping below the $4,000 mark.

On the domestic front, the Korea Gold Exchange's pure gold price (3.75g) that day was 748,000 won for buying and 636,000 won for selling. According to GoldPrice.com-based figures from Geumsise.com, the price was recorded at 742,000 won for buying and 650,000 won for selling.

Attention is focused on how international gold prices will move around the $4,000 level in the new week beginning on the 26th. The range of gold price fluctuations may vary depending on U.S. economic indicators, monetary policy-related statements, and geopolitical factors. In particular, whether the $4,000 level can be defended is cited as this week's key issue.
