■ Safety Guidelines for Fire Smoke
Smoke from a fire can obscure visibility and, if inhaled, may affect respiratory and overall health.
Residents staying indoors should refrain from unnecessary outings and keep windows and doors closed to prevent outside smoke from entering. Pedestrians and drivers passing near the fire scene should check the direction of the smoke and avoid approaching hazardous areas. If smoke makes it difficult to see while driving, drivers should not force their way through but instead use a safe alternative route.
If smoke enters a building or a fire risk is detected, residents should identify a safe evacuation route and move quickly. In such cases, basic guidelines include using stairs rather than elevators and staying low while moving through smoky sections. However, passages filled with dense smoke should never be crossed forcibly.
Children, the elderly, and others who may be especially vulnerable to smoke need to pay particular attention to their surroundings.
It is important for residents to follow further safety announcements and on-site control measures from the Gyeyang-gu Office and other relevant authorities, and to act accordingly.
