Medion will transfer two Australian patents related to udenafil for a total of 5.3648 billion won.
Medion announced in a regulatory filing on the 4th that it has signed a contract to fully transfer all ownership of udenafil-related patents in Australia to Hepaguard (International) Company Limited. The contract was signed on November 4, 2026.
The total contract value is 4 million dollars. Applying the Seoul foreign exchange brokerage exchange rate of 1,341.20 won per dollar as of November 4, this amounts to 5.3648 billion won, equivalent to 67.83% of Medion's revenue (790,950,039 won) based on its 2025 K-IFRS consolidated financial statements.
Two patents are being transferred: a patent (AU 2015302271) covering a method for improving myocardial function in Fontan patients using udenafil compositions, including broad claims for Fontan treatment and prevention, and a patent (AU 2020356193) concerning methods for improving exercise performance, single-ventricle function, and myocardial performance index (MPI) in single-ventricle heart disease.
The contract payment will be received in two installments. Medion explained that it will receive 2 million dollars by December 31, 2026, and the remaining 2 million dollars by February 28, 2027.
Medion emphasized that this contract constitutes a transfer of patent ownership for a specific region within its held pipeline and has no impact whatsoever on the development and commercialization rights of udenafil, its lead pipeline asset.
Notable contract terms include a provision granting both parties the right to terminate the agreement in the event of mutual consent or a material breach of contract. However, it is explicitly stated that after the execution of the contract, there is no obligation for termination or refund of the contract payment.
