According to the Korea Gold Exchange on June 27, the buying price of silver (3.75g) was recorded at 12,210 won and the selling price at 10,210 won. Compared to the previous day, the buying price rose by 260 won (2.13%) and the selling price by 210 won (2.06%), respectively.

As the global economic order undergoes rapid restructuring and competition in artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies intensifies, market attention is focused on whether silver can simultaneously fulfill its dual roles as a safe-haven asset and an industrial raw material. Accordingly, some analysts suggest that short-term monetary policy variables and medium- to long-term physical demand outlooks should be examined separately.

■ Short-Term Variables — U.S. Price Trends and Monetary Policy

In the short term, U.S. inflation trends and monetary policy expectations are key variables. The recent release of the U.S. May PCE data, which could influence the Federal Reserve's (Fed) interest rate policy, means that attention will likely remain focused on upcoming inflation data movements.

■ Medium- to Long-Term Variables — Increase in Physical Demand Driven by Expansion of Advanced Industries

Over the medium to long term, the increase in physical demand driven by the expansion of advanced industries is also cited as a factor that could support silver prices.

Meanwhile, tensions between the United States and Iran are rising again after the U.S. conducted airstrikes on Iranian military facilities in response to attacks on commercial ships navigating the Strait of Hormuz.
