Hanwha Ocean has been selected as the preferred negotiator for the detailed design and lead ship construction project of the Korean Next-Generation Destroyer (KDDX), commissioned by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA).
In a regulatory filing on July 2, Hanwha Ocean announced that it had received notification from DAPA of its selection as the preferred negotiator for the KDDX detailed design and lead ship construction project. The confirmation date for the selection of the preferred negotiator is July 1, 2026.
Specific terms such as the contract amount and contract period are expected to be finalized through future negotiations between the parties. Hanwha Ocean plans to proceed with detailed negotiations before signing the main contract and will make an additional disclosure once the contract details are confirmed.
The company added that this matter may change during the course of the project and that confirmed details will be disclosed again upon signing the main contract.
