[Interview] Tabber Reveals Behind-the-Scenes of New Single 'New Moon' and Teases New Album 'Modern Goth' in Rolling Stone Korea

Artist Tabber shared insights into his unique musical world, the behind-the-scenes of his new single's production, and details about his upcoming album in an interview with U.S. music magazine Rolling Stone Korea.

In the interview, released on the 8th, Tabber provided a detailed breakdown of the creative process behind his recently released single 'New Moon.' The track uses the 'New Moon' phenomenon as a metaphor to depict the dark world that unfolds when a lover closes their eyes.

Tabber stated, "I wanted to capture the floating sensation and the boundless feeling of a space completely devoid of light through the vocal mix and instrument choices," adding, "I put a lot of thought into musically expressing that dark and vast sensation."

In particular, this new single prominently features 1980s synthesizer sounds and heavy drum beats. He explained, "This is the first time I've revisited an '80s sound, and this attempt alone is a major change for me," noting, "I worked on it asking myself how I could retain the '80s sentiment while making it sound like music from 2026."

A Deeper Dark Fantasy Aesthetic Through 'Modern Goth'

The interview also marked the first time Tabber discussed his forthcoming album, 'Modern Goth.' Tabber remarked, "It's been fun working on 'Modern Goth' because it's a concept I've never tried before," identifying 'alienation,' 'loneliness,' 'night,' and 'gloominess' as the core keywords of his definition of 'Modern Goth.' This has fueled anticipation among fans, signaling an even deeper iteration of his signature dark fantasy aesthetic.

Known for his distinctive visuals and mysterious aura, he also shared his fashion philosophy. Tabber stated, "I like styles that present a new vision and direction. Fashion is a device that maximizes my character," adding, "Rather than wearing clothes just to look pretty, I see them as armor I put on before heading into a battlefield."

When asked about 'the ideal ending to a movie titled Tabber,' he answered, "It would be a regret-free happy ending where I leave after trying everything I wanted to do," revealing his strong ambition as an artist.
