La Poem countertenor Choi Seong-hun concluded his first solo recital 'Avec' to a complete sellout success.
Held on the 11th at the IBK Chamber Hall of the Seoul Arts Center, the performance carried added significance as Choi personally took charge of its planning and direction. The concert was themed around French salon culture, creating a time for music and audience to breathe together through collaborations with various instruments.
In the first part, Choi performed Baroque music in collaboration with a Baroque ensemble. In the second part, he was joined by the harp, violin, accordion, and piano, presenting a repertoire centered on French chanson. Choi reinterpreted diverse songs such as 'Göttingen,' 'Je te veux,' and 'Parlez-moi d'amour' with his own unique sensibility. He also earned high praise for his deep tone and delicate expression in performing Gluck's 'Che farò senza Euridice,' a piece he had learned in the early days of his vocal training.
The audience responded with admiration and applause throughout the performance, and at the end, they rewarded the stage with a standing ovation. During the encore song 'Les Champs-Élysées,' an atmosphere was created in which the stage and the auditorium became one. True to the meaning of the concert title 'Avec,' the harmony with various instruments completed the message of 'togetherness.'
Following the performance, Choi shared his thoughts, saying, 'Thanks to the many people who helped me and joined me here, I was able to stand on such an honorable stage. I sincerely thank everyone who took the time to visit the concert hall.'
Meanwhile, Choi Seong-hun is simultaneously pursuing group activities and solo endeavors as a member of La Poem. He recently successfully concluded La Poem's signature brand concert 'A Laland of a Summer Night: NEW ERA.' Since his first mini-album 'SCENE#1' in 2020, he has been continuously active in music, releasing singles, mini-albums, and the creative art song album 'Si·Shi·POEM.' In terms of solo concerts, he has consistently taken the stage with 'Movement,' 'On Stage,' 'On Air,' and now 'Avec.'
