HLB (028300) managed to sustain its upward trend during the regular trading session despite a sharp KOSDAQ decline, but reversed course downward in the NXT after-hours market, drawing keen attention from investors.

On the 16th, HLB closed the regular session at 35,300 won, up 600 won (1.73%) from the previous trading day. On the same day, the broader market underwent a steep correction, with the KOSDAQ index closing at 791.84, down 37.59 points (4.53%) from the prior session. Nevertheless, HLB maintained its upward trajectory, displaying relatively robust performance.

However, the sentiment shifted after the regular session ended. As of 6:46 p.m. that day, HLB was trading at 33,700 won on the NXT after-hours market, down 1,600 won (4.53%) from the regular session closing price, turning to weakness.

Recently, HLB's stock price has been on a rebound trajectory after experiencing significant volatility related to U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issues. The previous day, it hit the upper limit with a strong upward trend, and on this day as well, it closed higher despite the KOSDAQ plunge, demonstrating resilience. However, in after-hours trading, profit-taking sell orders flowed in, putting the stock under downward pressure once again.

The market is closely watching whether HLB can continue its relative strength from the regular session when trading resumes on Monday following the Constitution Day holiday (July 17), or whether the bearish trend seen on NXT will carry over into the main market. In particular, changes in U.S. stock market and global biotech investor sentiment during the holiday period are cited as variables that could influence the stock price on the next trading day.
