Geopolitical Risk… Option of Deploying Ground Troops in Iran War Discussed

Geopolitical uncertainty lies behind the rise in gold prices. According to U.S. media reports, President Donald Trump recently held a meeting in the White House Situation Room and received a briefing from his aides on operations involving the deployment of ground troops in the Iran war.

Citing sources, Axios reported that President Trump and his aides discussed expanding the scope of military operations, which had been limited to the vicinity of the Strait of Hormuz, to launch a large-scale offensive.

According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), there are three options for a "large-scale offensive": intensifying airstrikes, bombing underground nuclear facilities, and deploying ground troops to occupy islands near the Strait of Hormuz.
