Actors Jin Seon-gyu and Lee Hee-joon appeared on the 321st episode of KBS2's 'Attic's Problem Children.' The two actors, who boast a 27-year friendship, held nothing back as they opened up about their struggles during their unknown days, their competitive spirit over acting, and their family lives, delivering both laughter and heartfelt moments.

A 27-Year Friendship Forged in a K-Arts Theater Troupe

The bond between Jin Seon-gyu and Lee Hee-joon began in a theater troupe at the Korea National University of Arts (K-Arts). While dreaming of attending K-Arts, Lee Hee-joon lingered around the campus and happened to meet Jin Seon-gyu in an acrobatics club. After joining the club, Lee re-enrolled at K-Arts. The two later co-founded their own theater troupe, sharing the stage and building a deep bond for over 20 years.

Testosterone Levels Revealed…"Jin Seon-gyu Is Getting More and More Feminine"

The broadcast featured a lighthearted moment in which Jin Seon-gyu, Lee Hee-joon, and Kim Jong-kook revealed their testosterone levels. Jin Seon-gyu shared that a health checkup showed his testosterone level was low at 2.12, whereas Kim Jong-kook recorded 9.96 and Lee Hee-joon 10.6. Lee Hee-joon joked that Jin Seon-gyu's speech and gestures were becoming increasingly feminine, prompting laughter when Jin vowed to improve the situation through treatment and exercise.

Acting Jealousy and an Apology Brought Up After 20 Years

The two actors also candidly confessed to feelings of jealousy and competitiveness in acting. Lee Hee-joon recalled watching Jin Seon-gyu's graduation performance and feeling a deep sense of frustration, thinking he could never act that well. Jin Seon-gyu apologized for criticizing Lee's acting in the past as 'calculative,' and shared that he now actually feels jealous of Lee's acting skills. Lee Hee-joon also drew attention by sharing an anecdote about attempting 'leopard acting' in an effort to catch up with Jin.

Marriage Anecdotes Were Not to Be Missed

Episodes involving their families added to the entertainment. Jin Seon-gyu shared his daily life with his wife of 17 years, actress Park Bo-kyung, and introduced her nickname as 'Wasabi.' He then drew laughs with a witty remark that if his wife passes away first, he wants to be buried with her. Lee Hee-joon, who has been married for 11 years, shared stories about his wife, model and former basketball player Lee Hye-jung. He not only recounted the humiliation of being defeated by his wife in a basketball match but also brought roaring laughter by sharing that his son misunderstands his father's job, thinking his dad is going to the bathroom whenever he reads a script.

Days of Obscurity and Oh Man-seok's Warm Support

Jin Seon-gyu also reflected on the hardships of his days as an unknown actor. For him, who juggled multiple part-time jobs to cover tuition and living expenses, senior actor Oh Man-seok was a great source of comfort. It was revealed that Oh Man-seok personally cut Jin's hair and even supported his wedding fund, touching viewers' hearts. Jin Seon-gyu expressed his sincere gratitude, saying, "I should have told this story at some point but haven't been able to yet. I want to take this opportunity to say thank you once again. I will continue to pay it back in any way I can."

The episode also featured a variety of quiz questions, including 'The secret of a mobile phone that shook a criminal investigation scene,' 'How emperor penguins recognize their mates,' and 'The No. 1 ultimate skill of convenience store and PC bang cashiers,' which added to the fun. After the broadcast, viewers responded enthusiastically to the two actors' genuine friendship and human charm.

'Attic's Problem Children' airs every Friday at 10:10 PM on KBS 2TV.
