KBS 1TV's national audience-participation audition program 'National Singing Contest' made headlines as it was broadcast from Seongdang-gu, Incheon Metropolitan City, for the first time. Airing every Sunday at 12:10 PM for 46 years, this long-running variety show beloved by the nation presented its Seongdang-gu episode—the first to be organized following the administrative reorganization of Incheon Metropolitan City—as its 2,175th broadcast on July 26. This stage was held to great success at a special outdoor venue in the Dream Park Wildflower Garden.
A total of 17 teams with diverse relationships—including sisters-in-law, sisters, and friends—participated in the main competition of this Seongdang-gu episode. The contestants showcased passionate performances with uniquely personalized stages, singing songs such as 'A Wise Choice,' 'Thumbs Up,' and 'Heungbo's Story Is Amazing.' In particular, a Taekwondo demonstration team delivered a stunning Taekwondo performance to Psy's 'New Face,' drawing an enthusiastic response from the audience.
Adding richness to the participants' passionate performances were the congratulatory stages by guest singers. Park Sang-chul opened with 'Half the Battle Is Starting,' followed by Park Seong-on performing 'A Prince's Dream,' Seong Yu-bin singing 'Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes,' and Oh Ye-joong performing 'What's Wrong with My Life.' Finally, Kim Yeon-ja took the stage with 'Gossip Boom,' warmly wrapping up the festive event. This broadcast was recorded as a successful festival where the participants' hard work and the guest singers' spectacular stages came together in perfect harmony.
