IonQ (NYSE: IONQ) posted record performance in the second quarter of 2026 and raised its annual revenue forecast. Driven by the global expansion of quantum computer supply and steady growth in the commercial sector, the company expressed confidence in achieving 100% organic revenue growth this year.

Q2 Revenue Surges 287%... Record Performance On August 5 (local time), IonQ released its Q2 financial results for the period ending June 30, 2026. Revenue for the quarter reached $80.1 million, a 287% increase year-over-year. This figure is 20% above the midpoint of the company's previous guidance and represents the highest quarterly revenue in its history.

The revenue growth was driven by the expanded supply of the next-generation quantum computer 'IonQ Tempo,' increased cloud usage, and growing commercial demand across quantum platforms. Notably, the quarterly revenue breakdown—approximately 50% international, 60% commercial, and 25% multi-product—demonstrated the successful diversification of the company's business base.

Niccolo de Masi, Chairman and CEO of IonQ, stated, "IonQ has achieved record results for five consecutive quarters, and this quarter was the strongest in the company's history." He added, "Q2 revenue once again exceeded guidance, showing that customer demand continues across our expanding quantum platforms."

MOM Completion and Strengthened Quantum Networking & Defense Partnerships CEO de Masi assessed that the successful completion of the SkyWater and Nexus acquisitions has strengthened IonQ's full-stack quantum platform and commercial supply chain competitiveness within the U.S. and allied nations' ecosystem. He specifically emphasized, "We are also making meaningful progress on our 256-qubit quantum computer and quantum error correction technology."

He also offered a positive outlook on the recent executive order on quantum technology issued by the U.S. White House. CEO de Masi said, "Quantum sensing, quantum networking, quantum cybersecurity, and quantum computing have all become national priorities for the United States," adding, "IonQ is uniquely positioned to support these national strategies based on its unparalleled quantum platform."

Meanwhile, collaboration in defense and national security sectors is also accelerating. IonQ signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with defense company Anduril for the joint development of quantum technologies for defense and national security, and initiated a Quantum Co-Design partnership with Sandia National Laboratories. Additionally, in Tennessee, USA, the company partnered with EPB to install the world's first commercial quantum memory device on an actual fiber optic network, launching the 'Tennessee Quantum Communication Research Center.'

Significant achievements were also made in network security and space business domains. The company strengthened its integrated photonics technology through the acquisition of Nexus Photonics and newly introduced 'ClavisXG Multiplex,' a quantum security solution compatible with existing networks. In the space business sector, IonQ launched a commercial Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) service and expanded its on-orbit optical communication terminals to a record 84 units to support U.S. government projects.

Solid Financial Position... Adjusted EBITDA Loss of $120 Million Financial stability was also maintained. As of the end of June, cash, cash equivalents, and investment assets totaled $3 billion. However, on a pro forma basis reflecting funds used for the SkyWater acquisition, the figure stands at approximately $2 billion.

The net loss for Q2 was $1.8677 billion, with a GAAP loss per share of $5.08. The adjusted EBITDA loss was $120.3 million, and the adjusted net loss per share was $0.33. The company explained that these figures reflect costs related to the commercial partnership with SkyWater, and excluding those costs, the adjusted EBITDA loss would be at the $95.6 million level.

Inder Singh, Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), stated, "International market expansion, growing commercial customers, and our multi-product strategy are making our revenue base even more robust." He added, "We are raising our annual revenue guidance to between $280 million and $290 million, and we expect to achieve 100% organic growth year-over-year in 2026." The updated annual revenue forecast does not include the additional performance contribution from the SkyWater acquisition.
