Samsung Electronics has extended the activation period for pre-order customers of the 'Galaxy Z Fold8' through the 31st of this month, boosted by the explosive pre-order performance of the 'Galaxy Z8 Series,' which set an all-time record.

[Record-High Pre-Orders Surpass 1.44 Million Units] Pre-orders for the 'Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra,' 'Galaxy Z Fold8,' and 'Galaxy Z Flip8' over the past seven days reached a total of 1.44 million units. This marks the highest pre-order figure in Galaxy smartphone history.

It surpassed the previous record held by the 2019 'Galaxy Note10' (1.38 million units) after seven years. It also comfortably exceeded the records set by this year's 'Galaxy S26 Series' (1.35 million units) and last year's 'Fold7' and 'Flip7' (1.04 million units). In particular, the Fold8 lineup accounted for approximately 70% of total sales, demonstrating overwhelming consumer support.

[Activation Period Extended Due to Supply Shortages] Due to this unexpectedly massive success, the prepared supply for some models fell short of pre-order volumes. As inventory ran out at some retail locations, leaving customers unable to activate their desired models, Samsung Electronics extended the activation period, originally set from the 4th to the 7th, through the 31st of this month.

Samsung Electronics announced the news on the 5th through its official website and notices. This extension applies to customers who pre-ordered through mobile carriers.

  • *[Eligibility for Storage Upgrade Benefits]**
  • The activation period extension and the double storage upgrade benefits apply to the following customers:
  • Customers who upgraded the 'Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra' from 512GB to 1TB
  • Customers who upgraded the 'Galaxy Z Fold8' from 256GB to 512GB, or from 512GB to 1TB

These customers will receive the same pre-order benefits previously announced as long as they complete activation by the end of this month.

Meanwhile, the 'Galaxy Z8 Series' will be officially launched sequentially in approximately 100 countries worldwide, including South Korea, starting on the 7th.
