The Ministry of Employment and Labor is currently investigating whether an incident in which an employee was found dead at an LG Innotek company dormitory in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province qualifies as a serious industrial accident under the Occupational Safety and Health Act.

LG Innotek officially stated in a disclosure on the 6th, "On August 5, 2026, an accident occurred at a company dormitory located in Gongdan-dong, Gumi-si, North Gyeongsang Province, in which an employee was found in a state of cardiac arrest and died." One fatality resulted from this accident, and no additional injuries have been confirmed. The exact cause of the accident remains unknown at this time.

On the day following the incident, August 6, 2026, the company reported the relevant facts to the Ministry of Employment and Labor. The exact circumstances of the accident are expected to be determined through on-site verification by the police and further investigation by the Ministry.

It remains uncertain whether the incident qualifies as a serious industrial accident. The company explained, "As of the date of disclosure, it is unclear whether the incident constitutes a serious industrial accident under the Occupational Safety and Health Act," and added, "If the Ministry of Employment and Labor's investigation determines that it is not a serious industrial accident, we will issue a corrective disclosure."
