Quantum computing-related stocks closed broadly higher in the U.S. stock market. IonQ recorded a double-digit gain, followed by Rigetti Computing and D-Wave Quantum, among others.

IonQ surged 11.85% from the previous day, taking the top spot in gains. Rigetti Computing rose 8.52%, D-Wave Quantum climbed 6.98%, and Quantum Computing gained 4.67%. Meanwhile, Quantinum fell 0.28% and Qrypt declined 0.94%, showing mixed movements across individual stocks.

Quantum computing-related stocks are a sector characterized by sustained high volatility. While the market is watching whether the upward trend in major stocks will continue, attention is increasingly shifting toward fundamental factors such as individual companies' earnings, order intake, and technology development rather than short-term momentum.

IonQ Accelerates Expansion of U.S. Government Business

IonQ is rapidly expanding its cooperation with U.S. government agencies. On the 6th (local time), the company announced that it had secured a contract extension worth $28 million related to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)'s 'It's About Time' program. Accordingly, the company plans to expand production of the optical atomic clock 'Evergreen-05' and supply a total of 125 units to U.S. government customers.

IonQ previously strengthened its capabilities in the quantum Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) sector by acquiring Vector Atomic last year. Business with the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) has also been added. Its subsidiary Capella will provide commercial synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery and data services through a contract under the NRO's Radar Commercial Augmentation (RCA) program. This technology is used to obtain Earth observation data regardless of weather and day-or-night conditions, and is expected to support U.S. government situational awareness, mission planning, and other national security areas.

However, given that quantum computing-related stocks are a sector with relatively high price volatility, future stock prices may move significantly depending on each company's earnings, order intake, technology development progress, and overall trends in the U.S. stock market.
