In the Democratic Party of Korea's leadership primary, candidate Kim Min-seok has taken first place in the Gangwon and TK (Daegu·Gyeongbuk) regional touring primaries, continuing his winning streak. However, in cumulative vote share, it remains a neck-and-neck race, with candidate Jung Cheong-rae trailing by less than 2 percentage points, or a mere 3,086 votes.

According to the Democratic Party's Central Election Committee on the 9th, in the rights party member vote held after joint campaign speeches in Gangwon and Daegu, candidate Kim Min-seok received 48.54%, leading candidate Jung Cheong-rae (44.40%) by a margin of 4.14 percentage points. Candidate Song Young-gil recorded 7.06%. By region, Kim placed first in Gangwon with 50.30% and took 47.37% in Gyeongbuk. Jung took the lead in Daegu with 47.82% but trailed Kim in the overall TK combined tally.

Previously, Kim also finished first ahead of Jung in Jeju (52.64%) and Incheon (45.09%). In the first week of touring primaries, Kim won in the Chungcheong region while Jung won in Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam, with each claiming one win and one loss in a tightly contested race.

The current cumulative vote shares stand at Kim Min-seok 46.01% (95,821 votes), Jung Cheong-rae 44.53% (92,735 votes), and Song Young-gil 9.47% (19,715 votes).

This party convention is held under a one-person, one-vote system, reflecting 70% from delegate and rights party member votes and 30% from public opinion polls. A preferential voting system has been introduced, whereby if no candidate secures a majority, the second-choice votes of voters who selected the lowest-ranking candidate as their first choice will be added to the top two candidates to determine the winner. In regional touring primaries, only the rights party member vote results are disclosed, while delegate and public vote results will be released all at once after all regional primaries conclude. The final results are scheduled to be announced on the 17th in Daejeon.

Meanwhile, in the Supreme Council member primary, candidate Choi Min-hee is leading with 20.28%, followed by Park Sun-won (16.74%), Han Min-soo (14.39%), Seo Mi-hwa (14.24%), Kim Yong (12.65%), Lee Sung-yoon (11.88%), Im Mi-ae (6.67%), and Kim Young-ho (3.14%).
