Actor Heo Sung-tae left a strong impression playing the legendary crime boss Baek Sang-gil in the Netflix original series 'This Damn Love.'

'This Damn Love' is a romantic comedy depicting the cohabitation story of amnesiac prosecutor Go Eun-sae (Ha-young) and boxing coach Jang Tae-ha (Jung Hae-in), who claims to be her boyfriend. Baek Sang-gil, portrayed by Heo Sung-tae, appears to be a dignified businessman on the outside but is a man who does not hesitate to resort to ruthless behavior to achieve his goals.

With his signature overwhelming presence and nuanced emotional acting, Heo Sung-tae vividly captured the dual nature of Baek Sang-gil. In particular, in scenes where trust with Jang Tae-ha turns into a rift, he delivered intense action and emotional subtext, maximizing the tension of the series. By adding a noir atmosphere to the romantic comedy genre, he anchored the series with a multi-dimensional performance that navigates between humanism and coldness, going beyond a simple villain.

He earned the praise of adding "a spoonful of noir to a rom-com," heightening immersion through tense confrontations and action scenes with Jung Hae-in, and completed a fully realized Baek Sang-gil character amid acclaim that he was "more than just a simple villain."

Meanwhile, Heo Sung-tae has been active in numerous dramas including 'I Have a Lover,' 'WATCHER,' 'Voice 3,' 'Psychopath Diary,' 'Monster,' 'Squid Game,' 'The Silent Sea,' 'Late Night Restaurant,' 'Insider,' 'A Model Family,' 'Casino,' 'Bait,' 'Crash,' 'The Player 2: War of Gambler,' 'Good Boy,' and 'Fifty Percent.' In film, he has appeared in 'The Age of Shadows,' 'The Fortress,' 'The Outlaws,' 'Feng Shui,' 'Rampant,' 'Mal-mo-e: The Secret Mission,' 'Black Money,' 'Sweepers,' 'Hunt,' 'Boys,' and 'The Agent.'

His awards include the Male Excellence in Acting Award in the Film category at the 26th Korea Culture and Entertainment Awards in 2018 ('The Outlaws'), the Scene Stealer Male Actor award at the 18th Korea First Brand Awards in 2019, the Best Actor award at the 6th Asia Artist Awards in 2021 ('Squid Game'), the Male Acting Award at the 8th APAN Star Awards in 2022 ('Insider'), and the Male Supporting Actor award at the KBS Drama Awards ('Late Night Restaurant'), among others.

All episodes of 'This Damn Love' are available for streaming on Netflix.
